As summer arrives with the Dragon Boat Festival,
the days grow longer and the season’s warmth lingers.
With the festive aroma of rice dumplings in the air, EDT’s volunteer team made their way to the local senior home for the 13th edition of our charity visitation program. Our mission: to bring early Dragon Boat Festival cheer through genuine companionship.
This time, the team came not only with traditional zongzi (sticky rice dumplings), but also with a special new guest — Bumi, an intelligent robot.

Bumi was an instant hit. Its adorable, quirky design and futuristic look sparked curiosity and smiles, drawing the seniors in for closer looks and friendly interactions. The room came alive with laughter and excitement.
As lighthearted music played, Bumi busted out some energetic dance moves — a playful performance that warmed hearts and lifted spirits. The hands-on encounter with cutting-edge tech not only gave the residents a glimpse of how far innovation has come, but also brought them genuine joy and a refreshing new experience.

The fun didn’t stop there. Team members Sookie and Wan Zimeng took the stage with a medley of beloved golden oldies. The familiar melodies stirred fond memories, and the seniors soon joined in — humming along, tapping to the beat, and drifting back to cherished times.

To wrap up the day, Mr. Klein, EDT’s General Manager, personally handed out zongzi to each resident, taking time to chat with them about their health and daily life. Bumi also made the rounds, offering cute, interactive greetings that added an extra layer of warmth to the occasion.

Fragrant leaves carry our blessings; technology brings warmth to the heart. This beautiful blend of time-honored tradition and modern innovation gave the seniors a Dragon Boat Festival filled with meaning — and more importantly, with sincere company that chased away loneliness and made them feel truly cared for.
EDT remains steadfast in our social mission. Through every visit, every conversation, and every small act of kindness, we strive to honor our elders and spread goodwill in our community.
As the Dragon Boat Festival draws near, we wish all seniors health, happiness, and peace — today, tomorrow, and always.
