Server CPO heat sink bracket

Product overview

EDT Diecasting Technology (Suzhou) manufactures aluminium die cast brackets that retain and press down heat sinks on CPO (co-packaged optics) modules for data-centre and optical-communication equipment. The bracket is a thin-wall frame cast in a single tool, with integral spring clips, mounting holes and locating features that cut part count and assembly steps.

Key features

• Thin-wall frame in one shot — The frame replaces several stamped parts and welded assemblies, reducing weight, tooling count and total cost.

• Integral retention clips — Spring clips and mounting holes are formed in the same tool, so the heat sink is pressed in place without extra screws or labour.

• Controlled contact flatness — The seating face can be machined or coined after casting to close the interface gap and lower thermal resistance.

• Repeatable hole patterns — Tooling-based production keeps holes, outline and locating features consistent for automated pick-and-place assembly.

• Finish options — Sand blasting, conductive conversion coating, painting or e-coating can be applied to suit contact, appearance and corrosion requirements.

Process and quality control

Tool design, flow simulation, casting, deburring, CNC machining and full dimensional inspection are carried out in house. Because thin-wall frames tend to distort, flatness is controlled through flow analysis and a coining step, while critical holes and mating faces are checked on CMM together with first-article approval and in-process records. The plant is certified to ISO 9001, IATF 16949 and ISO 14001.

Applications

Typical applications are data-centre servers, optical transceivers and modules, switches and routers, AI accelerator cards and other high-density compute assemblies where heat-sink retention, low weight and batch consistency all matter.
